El Salvador, like every country, (including the US), ๐๐๐ an entrenched, longstanding bureaucracy (READ: Deep State) serving the interests of unelected elites who controlled all the wealth (with the help of foreign intelligence services). Both the Civil War, from 1979 – 1992, and the gang occupation from the end of the Civil War until March of 2022, served the apparatus of control & corruption by duplicitous Salvadorans, and their enablers, who bled the country dry; profiting from the chaos. But this changed when President Bukele got elected. He broke from the legacy two-headed political monster of โleftโ & โrightโ that festered not fixed problems. He created a new political party, Nuevas Ideas, and then went to work slaying the poisonous duopoly ruling the kleptocracy. This was a Herculean task that needed boldness & cunningness in equal measure.
